Pack Your Belongings Safely When Moving

Moving is one of the most stressful times in a person’s life. You have to juggle the search for your new home, decide what you do and don’t need to take with you and come to terms with leaving an area you’re familiar with, all in a limited time frame. Throughout this, there will always be unplanned or overlooked obstacles that come up and only add fuel to the fire, so it’s important to take control over what you can. One of the first places to start is the packing of your possessions.

In our homes and apartments, everything has its own place where it belongs. When we prepare to move, we have to take everything we own and throw it in a truck, van or container with everything else. This can obviously lead to problems when things are packed tightly into boxes to save space and shaken and rattled until they reach their new home. To reduce the stress of worrying about your belongings, investing in custom foam for shipping and moving protection can keep your valuables safe, giving you one less thing to worry about.

The familiar eggcrate cushion pattern seen on foam sheets is one of the smartest packaging materials for moving, due to its economical manufacture. It is easily cut down to the sizes you need and absorbs the impact and shifting that possessions endure in transit. For protecting large or heavy furniture like dressers or tables, foam rubber sheets are a durable option that can pad and prevent gouges and scratches without tearing. They can perform double duty as well once you get to your new home by serving as a furniture cushion under the feet of tables or couches to keep from scratching or cracking hardwood or tiled floors while getting situated in your new place.

If you have a move on the horizon, be proactive and add some practical packaging materials to your moving list and remove repairs and replacement of your possessions from your to-do list once your move is complete.

Tip of the day

Hardwood and tile floors are more durable than carpet and laminate. Keep in mind that all types of floors do require regular maintenance.
